Life at the Lodge: What Clients Can Expect
Daily life at Burning Tree Lodge revolves around the revitalization of a rich, full and rewarding life. Our entire program is designed to equip our clients with the tools to manage life’s challenges without resorting to substance use.
Personalized Dual Diagnosis Care
Substance use disorder and mental health go hand-in-hand, and our short-term inpatient program is specifically designed to address both simultaneously.
We start with a thorough evaluation to understand the full picture of your physical and mental health. Once we’ve obtained a better understanding of the mental health context around addiction, we introduce evidence-based therapies that we believe will provide the best possible care and recovery outcomes.
Therapeutic Sessions & Group Activities
Throughout treatment, our clients engage in multiple sessions with members of our treatment team on a weekly basis. Treatment includes individual time with a primary therapist, checkups with our nursing staff, and structured appointments with a recovery mentor and psychiatrist.
“Burning Tree Lodge confronts the intertwined challenges of dual diagnosis with compassion and expertise, ensuring every individual embarks on a journey of holistic healing and self-discovery.”

Our Phone Call Policies for Promoting Recovery
Initial Seven-Day Blackout Period
Burning Tree Lodge has incorporated a unique approach to therapy by implementing a seven-day blackout period for outbound phone calls to loved ones. This policy is designed to promote a deeper healing process for the individuals undergoing treatment.
We’ve found that this temporary block on outside communications helps to foster personal growth in the aspects of treatment that will ultimately lay the groundwork for long-term success in recovery.
Confronting Issues Head-On Without Distractions
The initial phase of recovery is often the most challenging, as patients need time to acclimate to their new environment and confront their issues head-on. The blackout period allows them to focus on their personal journey without external distractions, ensuring a solid foundation for successful treatment.
By temporarily disconnecting from the outside world, patients can develop a stronger sense of self-reliance and resilience. They learn to seek comfort and support within the Burning Tree Lodge community and its professional staff, building a network of resources they can rely on during their recovery.
Reflecting on Relationships
The initial absence of direct communication with loved ones provides patients an opportunity to reflect on the impact of their addiction on their relationships. This period of introspection enables them to recognize the importance of rebuilding trust and establishing healthier communication patterns in the future.
Protecting Loved Ones Outside Treatment
Lastly, the blackout period serves as a protective measure for the patients’ loved ones. It offers them a brief respite from the stress and emotional turmoil often associated with addiction, allowing them to recuperate and prepare for their role as supportive partners in the recovery journey.
Phone Calls After the Blackout Period
Beyond the initial seven-day blackout period, we ask that all outbound calls be made on Sundays to an approved family member or loved one. One call per Sunday is allowed, and the call will range from 5 minutes to 15 minutes in length based on our assessment of the individual’s progress in treatment.
This means that Burning Tree Lodge clients will become eligible for their first phone call on the second Sunday of their residential treatment stay.
Our Visitation Policy
We prioritize our patients’ well-being and recovery journey above all else.
For this reason, our facility has established a clinical policy whereby visitation is conducted the day after family program completion and limits visitors to those who participated in the 2-day family program with their loved one.
There are several important reasons why this visitation policy is in place:
In conclusion, we have these policies in place as a way to prioritize the active healing that clients undergo while also promoting the personal growth and separate recovery journeys of both clients and family members.
- Education of Family Members: The family program aims to educate family members on the nature of addiction, healthy boundary establishment, effective communication, and coping strategies. By limiting visitation to family program participants, Burning Tree Lodge ensures that visitors are well-informed about their loved ones’ struggles and equipped to provide the necessary emotional support during the visit.
- Application of New Skills for Family Members in a Real-Life Setting: Conducting visitation immediately after program completion allows family members to apply their newly acquired knowledge and skills in a real-life setting. This practical experience helps solidify the lessons learned during the program, fostering healthier relationships and enhancing the patient’s recovery process.
- Reinforcing Community & Commitment to Recovery: This approach creates a stronger sense of community and shared understanding among family program participants. By focusing on this specific group, Burning Tree Lodge facilitates the development of a vibrant support network for the individual in recovery. This tight-knit group, united by their shared experiences and commitment to the recovery process, can provide invaluable emotional support and encouragement.
In conclusion, we have these policies in place as a way to prioritize the active healing that clients undergo while also promoting the personal growth and separate recovery journeys of both clients and family members.
Preparing for Residential Treatment: What Should You Bring?
